Robin Egg Surprise

Hello again from The French Hens Nest.

Smiling Sally

Each Spring we look forward to the house finch family that builds their nest in a hanging basket on our front porch.  Last year I got them up kind of late or the birds came early, anyway they didn't set up housekeeping there and we were so disappointed.

This year my husband called me at work to say the birdies were back and checking our out porch.  It was in early March!  Of course I hadn't hung flowers by then!  Around the first of April I went to Lowes and bought two beautiful hanging baskets.  I used to pot up my own then wait for them to grow in.  I am too impatient to do that now.  I will let someone else make the hanging baskets for the birds!

Anyway, here it is the end of April and they have not come back!

We are disappointed but look what we have instead....

A Robin family moved into our dwarf magnolia tree!  Aren't they the perfect color blue?  Aren't they beautiful?  Isn't God Good?

Hope you enjoyed seeing them.

Peace,
Linda

  1. We had better luck with our robins. They built, hatched and now the babies have flown away. It was neat watching their progress.

  11. Hi Jeannie, thanks for your visit. I am late visiting but your post is so sweet. Love robin's egg blue. We have not had robins nesting here but lots of other birds give us so much pleasure to watch.

  12. We had birds nest on our back porch and I thought that was wonderful, that s, until we found them to be the messiest birds ever. We cleaned their poop off the surfaces for days and now they are not welcome guests. Maybe I would have a warmer heart if their eggs were as lovely as the robin's.
