Hello Again from The French Hen's Nest,
Once in a while I have a really good idea, as I am sure you do as well.
I have an Asian inspired lamp in blue and white, only it's not a dark blue but almost a light purple blue, all though I like the lamp, it just doesn't really work for me. So, I was thinking one night about what I could do with it, or should I just buy another one. Then a brilliant idea, I can paint it! Luckily, there was a small can of navy blue paint in my cabinet, and some fine tipped paint brushes. I got to work on it, and I loved the result, it's no longer pale, but a vibrant blue that fits in with my decor much better. What do you think?

In its proper place
This is what it looked like, only a bronze color
Embellished with crystals for Christmas
Yep, that's me in the red.
Well, hope you enjoyed my lamp tale. They were easy fixes, wish I had thought of them earlier, but I really love them now.
Thank you for visiting.
Till Next Time,
Jeannie

Good Morning Jeannie and Linda, My goodness, I love intricate work, but I would never have thought of painting a lamp base....especially the way you did, it looks like it has always looked like that. Loved the peek in your bedroom, do you know we have the same bedding, mine was bought in England from Marks and Spencer and I love, love, love it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a clever idea to cover your light with a modern shade and to add crystals, you have made it very current and whatsmore, this style of light fixture is very expensive. You have a very creative eye. Once again, I loved this post.....are you writing these especially for me?...only joking. I understand today is the day everyone hits the sales, if you are, good luck. Have a lovely weekend. Best Wishes Daphne
Good Evening Daphne, Hope you've had a wonderful day. Thank you so much for your kind words. What a difference a little paint made, it belongs now. And thank you, that shade really made me feel so much better about my surroundings, that chandelier was really an eyesore. I'm thrilled that you enjoyed my blog, I believe we have similar taste in many areas. As for the sales today, there are too many people, and I'm still recuperating from Thanksgiving dinner. Enjoy your evening, Jeannie
DeleteWow! Jeannie, you did a fabulous job painting the lamp! Even in my painting days, I don't know that I would have had the patience to do that. Very creative! Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Hi Sandi, thank you so much, it was really easy to do, a little tedious, but so worth it. That color was just so boring, I don't know why I hadn't thought of it earlier. Have a great day! Jeannie
DeleteThank you for visiting my blog and leaving a lovely comment on "Toile Inspiration" :). I see you love blue and white, I have just made over or rather re-accessorised my living area with blue and white for Spring (its Spring in New Zealand). I hope to share the images next week so do hope you will visit again.
