Some of My Favorite Things

Hello Again from The French Hen's Nest

These are some of my favorite things, collections, mirrors and pieces of furniture that I have collected over the years, and know that they will always have a place in my home.

Hope that you like them.

I bought this chair 15 years ago for the frame, and had
it reupholstered

Blue and White boxes

A comfortable reading chair with leopard foot stool

A collection of  silver and silver plate that I have collected
through the years, love every piece

Blue and White Ginger Jars
I lived in Japan for a few years, and that is where
I fell in love with blue and white. Visited a number of
China factories.

Bought many years ago from a dealer who picked it up in
 New Orleans

Last, but not least, my shells.  I've never seen a shell that
I didn't love.  One of God's most beautiful creations.

Don't know if you've ever been to Shackleford Island, small island, near Beaufort (pronounced Bowfert) NC, where the horses run wild. A short little  boat ride from Beaufort, and  beautiful beaches with an abundance of shells.  My Mom, three sisters and I have made the trip many times. ....... for a moment there I was transported home, good memories.

Hope that you have enjoyed seeing some of my favorite things.

Till Next Time,

Jeannie

  4. Good Morning Jeannie, My goodness, you showed us some stunning pieces from your home. As I scrolled down the page I kept thinking, gorgeous, beautiful, stunning, fabulous, I could go on, but I think you understand what I mean. I am a lover of blue and white and first came across it in Germany and Holland many years ago. I adore your blue and white chair, I wish I could scoop it up and bring it home. The assortment of blue and white boxes are beautiful. Are they all trinket boxes? the one to the left looks like a small porcelain egg. What can I say about the mirror, there is so much, but suffice to say the detail is fabulous and at such a wonderful price. I love blue and white ginger jars aswell and your bed wow, beautiful. There, I am running out of words. I adore everything you have shown us today. You must have a stunning home. I enjoyed this post so much, I am going to add you to my favourite blogs so others can enjoy your favourite things as I feel they will enjoy it as much as I did. Have a lovely day. Best Wishes Daphne

    1. Good Evening Daphne, Thank you so much for your lovely words, I'm so happy that you enjoyed My Favorite Things. I must say Daphne, I'm not surprised that you like them, because we tend to like the same things. And thank you for adding us to your favorite blogs. About the boxes, all are trinket boxes, and there is one shaped like an egg, its the largest box, the two very small round ones are soapstone, that I picked up in Brazil. Thank you again, and we'll see you at Ivy, Phyllis and Me. Have a great day. Take care, Jeannie & Linda, the two French Hens.

  9. Hi Jeannie, Love your blue and whites, especially the chair. I like shells too. I was interested to hear about the island where the wild horses are. It brings me back to my days in grade school when our teacher read us "Misty of Chincoteague."

    1. Hello Vanna, Thank you so much, I bought my bed from an antique store about 18 years ago, I fell in love when I saw it, and still love it. Happy that you like it too. The mirror was a once in a lifetime find at only $15, that was a lucky day. Have a great evening. Jeannie
