Isn't this table adorable? I was dropping off some trash one night, and noticed the legs sticking out of the top of the dumpster. My heart started racing, I had been looking for a small table with wrought iron legs, and there they were, sticking out of the dumpster.
Could it be?? I had no idea how I was going to get it, but as luck would have it there was a young couple loading their SUV with a lovely bed frame that someone had dropped off. This is a high end dumpster area, seriously, you should see the furniture, carpets, antiques, etc, that people leave here. I always wonder why they don't take it to Good Will or some place similar, but I've also noticed that it often disappears before it's picked up by the trash company. So someone it taking it home.
Anyway, back to the young couple. I asked the young man if he would see if that was in fact a table. He was happy to look for me, and pulled it off the top of the dumpster. I can't tell you how excited I was. It will seat four comfortably, but I use it when there are just two of us. I have a larger table for bigger groups. I sanded the top, waxed it, and reinforced the planks underneath so they wouldn't buckle from the rain, and I've enjoyed it for a couple of years now.
My chairs were also a great find, my son picked these chairs up for me from the road side, they are black wrought iron, look new, and match perfectly. My lanterns were a real steal from Ross for seven dollars each. Isn't it great when you imagine something, and it comes to fruition.
This is my little patio, which I will be leaving soon. Hope that I will be able to find a place that has an outdoor space. I love to grow flowers, herbs, and decorate my patio. I don't need a big space, but definitely some dirt to dig/plant in.
Till Nest Time,
Jeannie

It's an amazing place to relax - everything is perfect: the expensive table (!), the chairs and the lanterns. I love the pops of colours you added when you set the table.
ReplyDeleteThank you Magali, hope things are going well at The Little White House today. Have a great weekend.

Love the table, and the lanterns and plant are so pretty on top, plus what a wonderful tablescape too. Thanks tons for joining Inspire Me. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteWhat a great find! Who would throw that away? Thanks so much for sharing at The Scoop!...hugs...Debbie
ReplyDeleteWow, I can't believe the things people throw away, but aren't you the lucky one! I had those same lanterns from Ross, but sadly, one of them quit working, even with a new battery.
ReplyDeleteLovely spot, and lovely table! Thank you for joining Home Sweet Home!

That's a wonderful table, Jeannie! I cannot believe the things people throw out down there in your area! I never see stuff like that around here. Love the lanterns too. Thank you for sharing at my HOME and have a lovely rest of the week.

What a fabulous find! Wish I knew where that dumpster was!
ReplyDeleteHi Laura, Thank you, the great thing about these dumpsters, is that they're just for this housing area, and you have to have a key. I'm moving soon, and hate to give up my key. Thank you for stopping by.

Loved the table and chairs! Great finds. I'd like to find something just like it for my enclosed side porch, to eat lunch out there! Congratulations. Susan
ReplyDeleteOM Gosh what a wonderful little table! I wish I had a dumpster like that near by! And the chairs are great also. Love your tablescape and so glad you figured out how I was doing Transformed Tuesday now. Thanks so much for entering.

How fun to find something so great in a dumpster, almost inspires me to go dumpster diving but I doubt I would find anything like that in the dumpsters in my neighborhood. Love the lanterns as well. I am a new follower and look forward to keeping up with you!
