Tea Time?

Hello Again From The French Hen's Nest,

   Isn't she just lovely?  I really love the Blue Willow pattern, it just never grows old.  Once I had a service for ten, but when downsizing, decided that it should find a new home.  Now, I mostly use white plates and china.  I find that you can use them with any color scheme, and they make a beautiful table setting.  Anyway, back to my teapot.  I found this new, in the box at Goodwill.  It was only $8.00, and worth every penny.  It will go perfectly with my white service.

Pray For Our Wounded Warriors

  I would like to remind everyone to pray for our young men and women serving in the military.  I am reminded of the great sacrifice that they make for us every time I visit the hospital.  Most of us go about our daily lives without much thought to what is happening around the world that brings our young military members into harm's way.

While shopping at Salvation Army recently I saw a stack of little boxes with photos of birds on them.

It seemed to be a collection from Hallmark.  Have you ever heard of them?

Charming Homes of Old Town 2

Hello Again From The French Hen's Nest,

  The weather has been absolutely beautiful the past few days.  This always inspires me to walk around Old Town, Alexandria.  The homes are gorgeous, and all are different.  I took some pictures of a few lovely historic homes, and I'm sharing them with you.
  Old Town was established in the 1700's, well known politicians have spent time in Alexandria, historically, and present.  It is just down the road from Mount Vernon, and of course across the Potomac River from Washington, DC.  In the summer it is packed with tourists from all over the world.  Full of history and beauty, it's a lovely place to visit, and live.

Dress Up Your Lamp Shades

Hello Again From The French Hen's Nest



   I was in the guest bedroom one day, and I noticed my antique lamp sitting on my little French nightstand.  I've seen it many times, it has three lights, and white shades on them. And I thought, why are those shades white, why haven't I covered them?  I have some toile material on hand that matches the pillow covers.  What was I waiting for? So, I collected the three shades, the toile, and went downstairs to work.

Light, Flaky Deliciousness

 Hello Again From the French Hen's Nest, 

             

  I may not have mentioned it before, but I'm not too big on cooking.  I did all of that when my children were young, and now I take it easy.  My daughter is the cook now, she loves to cook, she will pour a glass of wine, and enjoy every minute in the kitchen.   And of course, everything she cooks is delicious.  I'd like to say she got that  from me, but I'd be lieing.  I do love eating food, and reading recipes, and even daydreaming about actually cooking it.  But this doesn't happen too often.
