Update On Paris Grey Weekend

Hello Again from The French Hen's Nest

UPDATE:  For the past few years, I've been looking for the right drawer handles.  I was using white ribbon until I could find what I wanted.  I ordered french handles, and bought  more french handles,  but like most, they just didn't fit.  Finally, I spotted these glass like handles at TJMAXX, and knew that the modern look would add a fresh new look.  So happy with the result.  Thank you for stopping by.  (Below is the original post)

I had mentioned in my last post, (More Weekend Finds) that I had found a three drawer French style chest to transform. It was in rough shape, painted black with multiple colored flowers, and other symbols.

But through it all I could see the beauty of the chest.  It took a lot of sanding, a lot of sanding,  wasn't sure it would clean up, but finally decided it was ready for paint. I decided to use the color Paris Grey.  I mixed my paint by using Annie Sloan White chalk paint with some flat black and a little blue.

When I said rough I wasn't kidding, but then again it was free.  A neighbor put it on the street.

I have seen various blogs with furniture painted in Paris Grey, and liked the clean, almost formal look of gray and white. So Paris Grey is the perfect color for these pieces.  I used Annie Sloan chalk paint because it is  very easy to work with, and the coverage is phenomenal.  There are a lot of curves on this chest, and I should have used painters tape, but instead did the trim free hand.   And locating hardware for the piece has not been easy.  What I have found is not in my budget right now, maybe next week.  I will be sure to show you  when I get it.  Maybe you know where I can find it at a good price?

As you can see, I wasn't kidding about my Paris Grey weekend.  This antique mirror which was also free, was perfect for this chest, and the stool (GW find for $6) will look great by the bed.  My beds are high, so it should be useful.  Hope you like these finds.

Thank you so much for visiting, and please come back.

Till nest time,

Jeannie
