My New Old Powder Room

Hello Again From The French Hen's Nest,

Thank you so much for the visit today.  As you know, I've decorated my new old home, and today I'm going to share some photos of my powder room.   Please keep in mind that this house was built in the 1880's, and the bath was added much later.  And I'm renting, so for now I have to work with the existing floors, fixtures, etc.

Once again I went with the blue and white theme.  The shower curtain is actually a twin size comforter cover that I had on hand.  I used some decorative hooks that clamp on to the cloth, so no sewing involved.  You will notice that I have repainted a night stand that I had featured in the past.  It was teal and gold, but needed to be refreshed to work with this color scheme.  I also used some hand towels of blue and white with fringe, that are made for the kitchen.  I really like the look of these towels, hope that you do too.  Also, maybe I should paint the basket white, what do you think?

Hope that you like what I've done.  Enjoy your week.

Till Nest Time,

Jeannie

  1. Blue and white are hard to beat, especially when they are combined in a toile! Your bathroom looks very lovely!

  2. Good Morning Ruth Anne, nice to hear from you again. Thank you so much, not a lot to work with here, but I'm happy with it. Have a great weekend.

  3. Good Afternoon Jeannie, I am sorry I have not visited you in a little while, but due to family commitments, I have not had the time to visit as I normally would.
..... but it is lovely catching up with you now and as always, you have such a lovely eye for detail. It is always difficult when decorating a rented property, but you never let that phase you, as you always manage to put your stamp on your home..... I love the blue and white bathroom... my favourite combination of colours.
    Enjoy your weekend.
    Best wishes

  5. Hello Again Magali, thank you so much, the shower curtain is actually a twin comforter cover from Ikea, I bought it thinking that I would make curtains, but never got around to it. Like it better this way anyway. Thank you so much for the visit. Hope that things are going well at The Little White House.

  6. Hi Jeannie,

Gorgeous. That's my reaction. I'd paint that basket a darker blue--the same as the darkest blue in the pottery.

    Happy Blue Monday!

  7. I like your style here! Nice combination of blues! I think the basket would look great in a darker shade of blue! But it's just one opinion! Have a great week and thank you for sharing.

  8. I certainly love how the rug ties into it all. Toile is such a pretty pattern and I would also use dark blue on the basket.

  9. Hi Ann, well that's three for dark blue. I had painted the chest the same blue as the toile, but it was too much, maybe the basket would be good because it's small. Thank you so much for the visit.

  10. This looks lovely. I love the shower curtain...I have a bit of a thing about toile and in blue and white is even better.

Your house sounds fantastic. My dream has always been to have a very old house to remodel so I am a tad envious. What a great journey you are on. Have fun!

    1. Thank you so much for your visit. I don't know why, but I'm drawn to old homes, maybe the charm or the history. They can be a bit of a pain, but when I look around I'm happy. Hope you've had a great week.
